PreText Released

PreText officially went out the door tonight. It is now available in the Android Market.

See this for a brief description.

In a nutshell, PreText allows you to ignore text messages you receive while driving. It does this by doing a couple helpful things.

  • It automatically responds to the person who texted you, letting them know you can't respond at the moment because you're driving, but that you'll respond as soon as you can.
  • It optionally reads the texts you receive aloud to you using Android's Text to Speech functionality.
  • It reports information to you like: where you were when you received the text (viewable on a map), how fast you were going, your latitude, longitude and bearing...
  • Makes it easy for you to call the person who texted you with a few thumb touches.

If you have an Android phone or know someone who does, give it a whirl, it costs about what a cup of coffee does.

  1. Purchased and love it already. Not been out driving with it but I was thinking about this type of app just last week.
